Santiago

Today is the first programming contest of the year in my college. It is a preparation for the ACM contest that will take place next month. As a member of the staff I am not participating (I am the sysadmin), but it is always great to see the look of the teams trying to figure out the problems. I hope to see at least a few teams with enough skills to do a good job at the regional contest.

Inwit is the project I am currently working on. It uses moodle as LMS and we (other students and I) developed an electronic whiteboard and a chat along with some documentation tools.

The project right now is in tests. Unfortunately the people who is going to work as teachers are not helping very much, so getting true usage statistics has been a little difficult.

Anyway, there are only a few tasks left before the project is completely ready and I will have the extra time I need to work in my own projects.

I am Santiago García Pimentel and I am a software engineer (or that is what I like to think). Anyway, I like to create software.

I got my engineer degree in December 2008 (few months ago) from the Monterrey Technology Institute. They even gave me a great diploma saying that I am specialized in ‘Software Engineering’ (not as cool as a rock guitarist, but still nice). Anyway, my interests include software engineering (three times now you use that term!), SQA, programming and Linux administration.

This page is intented to be a record of my professional career. I will be putting here some stories about my job, my projects and any other interesting thing (yeah, right) that I learn.
